Encore Recitals

Encore recitals are held in various Washington area churches and recital halls. Attendance is open and free to the public. Recitals are usually scheduled for 3:00 p.m., but participants and attendees should check the AMSF calendar or Events page for details of upcoming recitals.

Apply for a recital by submitting a request by email 10 days prior to the recital with the following information: title of piece; composer; performer's name, instrument and teacher's name. Performers are limited to 10 minutes each. Preference is given to performers who have not played recently, or at all, in a prior Encore recital.

An adult who is not a member of AMSF but who studies with a teacher who is a member of one of the area music teacher associations may participate in an Encore recital for a $17 fee.

Salon Recitals

Salon recitals are oriented toward chamber groups and other ensembles. They are held in private homes and are intended for groups of all levels of skill and experience. Attendance is open to participants first and, space permitting, to additional audience. Performances are limited to 10 minutes, though it may be possible for performers to arrange for a longer performance with the coordinator. Soloists may also be permitted after preference is given to ensembles. Members who wish to participate should contact the coordinator by email or telephone.

Sonata Recitals

The sonata series provides a venue for the performance of single- and multiple-movement sonata works. The series is open to soloists and chamber groups, and to performers of beginning to advanced levels. Recitals are hosted in member homes and are limited to approximately 90 minutes in length. Guests are permitted at the discretion of the coordinator and host. Members who wish to participate should contact the coordinator by email or telephone.

Coordinator Kuo-Wei Wang
Repertoire Sonata works, all performance levels

Duetto Recitals

Duetto recitals are open to all instrumentalists. Piano duets (played on either one or two pianos) predominate, but the series is open to instrumentalists of all combinations. Playing duets is a good way for beginners or nervous performers to get used to performing, so we encourage players at all levels to take advantage of this series. We also encourage performers with different levels of experience to partner with one another. If you are interested in playing a duet and need a partner, contact the coordinator, and he/she will try to help you find a partner. Members who wish to participate should contact the coordinator by email or telephone.

Coordinator Barbara Freggens
Repertoire Duets, all performance levels
