The Cadenza recital scheduled for February 8th was cancelled due to the lingering snow on the streets and sidewalks. Even with the warmer temperatures, many sidewalks remained unshoveled, and the street was only partially cleared, which would have made parking difficult and the walk to the venue potentially unsafe for some performers.
Many thanks to Judith Block for graciously opening her home for this AMSF recital. And to all who planned to perform — thank you for the care, time, and dedication you gave to preparing your pieces right up until the announcement. In recognition of your hard work, I encourage everyone to take a moment to review the pieces that were to be performed. Those who are familiar with these works will notice a beautifully unified theme: an exploration of the emotional palette — reflective, lyrical, poetic, and cantabile textures.
Cadenza recitals are intended primarily for members typically with advanced levels of skill and experience. The next Cadenza recital is planned for Sunday, April 26th at 2:00 pm at a member’s home in Great Falls, VA. AMSF members who are interested in performing can contact mserrano@amsfperform.org
