On a beautiful fall afternoon, seven performers met at the home of Joan Rosenfield in College Park, Maryland.
To start, Joan and Naomi performed two movements of Brahms Violin Sonata. Then Jack performed the entire Bach Partita in Bb. Kuo-Wei played a short Sonatina by Ukrainian modern composer Nikolai Kapustin written in 2000. Finally, a trio (flute/violin/viola) performed three movements of Serenade by Beethoven. It was wonderful to be part of the exciting program with such great variety. Everyone played well, and the atmosphere was relaxing and friendly.
Special thanks to Joan for hosting at her beautiful home. The sonata recital series is designed for performances of single or multi-movement works. It is open for soloists and chamber groups. Players at all levels are highly encouraged to participate. While Sonata recitals are held at member’s homes, non-playing audience members are always welcome to attend. It is truly inspiring to see some AMSF members taking on a big challenge performing longer works.
