On a beautiful afternoon, eight performers plus three guests met at the home of Allan Reiter in Arlington, Virginia. First, a trio (flute/violin/viola) performed two movements of Serenade by Beethoven. This performance was, in a way, a continuation from Fall 2025, when they performed the first three movements. Then we had two Beethoven Sonatas performed by Hala Tomey and Randy Burd. Randy performed the entire Beethoven Sonata Op. 110. After a brief intermission, Amy performed two movements from Schubert A-major sonata. Then Kuo-Wei performed the first movement of Beethoven’s Eb Sonata. Finally Jack closed the program by performing three movements of the monumental Chopin B-minor Sonata. Everyone played well, and the atmosphere was relaxing and friendly.
Special thanks to Allan for hosting in his beautiful home. The sonata recital series is designed for performances of single or multi-movement works. It is open for soloists and chamber groups. Players at all levels are highly encouraged to participate. While sonata recitals are held at members’ homes, non-playing AMSF members are always welcome to attend as audience. It is truly inspiring to see some AMSF members taking on a big challenge performing longer works.
